Semi-Boneless Quail, Plantation

This lean, richly flavorful and super elegant little bird will be the new star of your dinner parties! Quail is the perfect game bird to start adding a little bit more glamour to your cooking - it's small, it's easy to cook, it's lean (healthy!), and it doesn't have an overwhelmingly game flavor that turns a lot of people off. Quail meat has a lot of flavor that pairs wonderfully with added fat like butter and bacon, or other intense flavors like foie gras or truffles.

Our Semi-Boneless Quail, also known as "European Style" Quail, is ideal to get the most of the presentation and flavor, without having to contend with lots of little bones. The leg and wing bones remain so that the bird holds its shape and looks glamorous at the table, but it's deboned inside - the torso -  so you don't need to work too hard for the meat and you can just add your favorite stuffing.

Semi-boneless quail is an incredibly flavorful delicacy that, unlike chicken, is full of rich, moist and tender dark meat. Serve quail meat roasted or baked, grilled or braised, stuffed, rubbed with a marinade, or if you own a smoker—go to town with smoked quail. The small size of this delicacy makes for an elegant presentation, but it also means it cooks very quickly. Add to that its natural leanness and it's very easy to overcook, so keep an eye on it. Quail meat is best served on the rare side (it's completely safe to do so) - it's juicier and more moist.
